With a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to helping all children and families thrive, Dr. Katie brings a new era of leadership and creativity to Bright by Text.
Bright by Text puts free tips, information, and community resources into parents’ fingertips through their smartphones, helping families promote the learning, development, and health of their young children.
Dr. Katie, as her patients affectionately call her, is a board-certified pediatrician and champion of childhood wellbeing. Having served on Bright by Text’s Board of Directors for the past 5 years, her passion for the organization’s mission and potential is unparalleled. A mom, entrepreneur, and savvy advisor to healthcare startups, Dr. Katie will provide the hands-on expertise of an experienced practitioner and healthcare leader–making her an ideal fit to lead Bright by Text into its next phase of growth and impact.

Through tips, information, games and resources sent by text message, Bright by Text is proven to build nurturing caregiver-child relationships, strengthen families, promote a child’s healthy development, and improve school readiness. Messages are timed to a child’s exact age and zip code, prenatally through age 8, and offered in both English and Spanish. An independent study of Bright by Text found that the service helps parents feel less overwhelmed, led to higher levels of verbal interaction between parents and children, and supported age-appropriate language development in children.
